Summary: Crime syndicate head Erik Lehnsherr travels to London on business, where he meets Oxford student Charles Xavier. Their liaison spawns into a years long transatlantic affair, kept apart by Erik’s work and Charles’ studies, which Erik chronicles in photographs. When distance ceases to be an issue after four long years, the overlap between Charles’ past and Erik’s work create a whole new set of complications.
A/N: This entire thing was born of a manip of Erik and Charles that needed some fleshing out in order to become a workable prompt. My wonderful author, wallhaditcoming, took my simple prompt and not only expanded upon it, but delivered a fic that went above and beyond my wildest expectations. So much of this art is due to her, as we clicked right from the start and kept inspiring each others muses at every turn. It doesn’t take long for Colonel Howlett to fall for the young man whose family just arrived in the county, Charles Xavier, a vivid reminder of his lost love Jean. As they become friends, he sees in him the same kindness and hopeful nature
that the world too often wants to crush as childish. This, his
intelligence, playfulness, even his arrogance, everything is
attractive to him. He doesn’t get the
time to try courting him though, because when Charles meets Erik,
it’s practically love at first sight. Close in age, similar tastes
and interests -though very different opinions- they seem made for
each other. Soon, everyone thinks they are all but formally engaged.
